According to MIT's Technology Review, a researcher in Cambridge says he's been working on harnessing ambient electromagnetic radiation (emitted from WiFi, TV antennas and broadcast stations) could be harnessed as a potential energy source to keep mobile devices "topped up" when not in use.
While the technology has historically been available, Nokia's research team is working on harnessing a number of different device frequencies in order to harness enough power to operate a mobile device. In today's high tech wifi environment, ample frequencies exist to help maximize the technology.
