Green For Footy
One of Australia's favourite past times has a green hue thanks to Origin Energy.
At Green Pages, we love seeing environmental initiatives that reach out to a mainstream audience. Origin's Green for Footy package gives Victorian and South Australian customers the chance to green their lifestyles while supporting their favourite AFL Club.
In addition to GreenPower and an energy assessement, the green energy package includes a limited edition green football so enthusiasts can show off their environmental contribution through their favourite sport.
With the purchase of the Green Footy Package, Origin will also contribute dollars towards offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions of the AFL through our Origin Carbon Reduction Scheme.
The participating clubs working with Origin include Adelaide Crows, Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, North Melbourne, Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs. "Our partnership with the AFL and the participating clubs is not only making a real difference to the environment, but it also provides customers in Victoria and South Australia the opportunity to reduce their impact on the environment," says Phil Craig, Origin's General Manager, Retail.
So far, over 37,000 footy fans in Victoria and South Australia have helped offset approximately 63,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.The 2009 Green for Footy package for Origin customers includes~:
• 25 per cent Government accredited GreenPower, and an option for Origin Green Gas, (50 and 100 per cent Government accredited GreenPower options are also available) for three years;
• a complimentary in-home assessment by a qualified energy expert who will replace incandescent light globes and showerheads with energy efficient equivalents;
• a contribution of $27.50 to a nominated participating AFL club, which will go directly towards the purchase of offsets for the nominated club's greenhouse gas emissions through Origin's Carbon Reduction Scheme (each year they are a Green for Footy customer, for three years); and
• a full size green Sherrin® football.
