Markets Soar on News of Copenhagen Climate Deal says Greenpeace spoof

Last week, Greenpeace handed 35,000 copies of a spoof International Herald Tribune that declared a global climate deal.
The optimistic look at the future was dated 19 December 2009, just after the approaching climate change talks in Copenhagen. The spoof paper was released in Brussels ahead of a Heads of State meeting that took place on 18 June. Greenpeace organisers had hoped climate change would be brought to the table.
According to the fictitious paper, the breakthrough moment enabling the December 2009 climate deal came at this meeting, when EU leaders broke the negotiation deadlock and agreed "US$ 50 billion (Euro 35 billion) for climate protection measures in developing countries."
Alas, such an agreement did not take place on 18 June but supporters around the world continue to hope that Copenhagen will bring about a global agreement for a post Kyoto climate change deal. For example, The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has released a Flash game to encourage visitors to get involved with the G8.
