As Australia's leading environmental awards, the Banksia Awards recognise outstanding environmental achievements by businesses, government and individuals. In 2009, several new Category Awards have been added including the Agriculture & Food "From Paddock to Plate" section.
Kraft Foods Australia/New Zealand spokesman, Simon Talbot, said the organisation recognised that it has only commenced its mission of improving the sustainable production of all Kraft Foods brands.

"While we are delighted to be recognised for our commitment to sustainable production, we very much recognise that we have only started our environmental journey. Moving forward we look forward to continuing to build on our current sustainability performance and improving the manufacturing process of Vegemite and all Kraft Foods brands," Mr Talbot said.
Other categories included the Origin Gold Banksia Award won by Melbourne bakehouse, Fergurson Plarre Bakehouses. The Eartwatch Institute took hom ehte Prime Minister's Environmentalist of the Year and the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre claimed the Built Environment Award.
